Meal Plan #72

 

If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that there has been a lot going on that hasn’t made it to these blog pages. Namely, my dear Aunt Tina died of breast cancer. She was only 47. Tina moved to my hometown when I was little and she ended up being more like a big sister than an aunt. She was always around and most definitely around when I needed someone other than my mom to talk to. I so desperately want the chance to get some last bits of advice from her, but by the time I got to Seattle from London, her mind had already slipped from what it once was. While she recognised who I was and was able to call me by name, she was not able to have any sort of conversation. Her body and mind were already shutting down.

I will be forever grateful to have spent her last days with her and to have held her hand as she slipped from this world to the next, but I hate that we didn’t get to have one last heart-to-heart. It seems so surreal to even type that. I mean, I saw them take her away in a plastic bag, and I still can’t quite believe I won’t see her again. It makes my heart hurt.

I returned to London a sad, homesick mess and am finally making it through my days without bursting into tears. Spending time with friends has definitely helped that. And, of course, my little family here in London is always a comfort . . . Food is also a comfort, which is why none of my trousers currently fit! (Ack!) I need to cut back, but for me that rarely means diet foods. It just means less of the same foods. That being said, I’ve been writing but not posting my meal plans because of my blog hiatus (I honestly can’t cope without meal planning!) Since this week was crazy with traveling and Halloween and going out to dinner tonight, I’ll post last week’s plan below.

PS: A massive thank you to all of you who sent me messages on instagram while I was with my aunt. I was feeling so sad and quite a bit lost in my emotions, and you were all a constant comfort. Thank you. Thank you. xxx
